Outstanding crossover female vocalist from China: Jia Ruhan
As a young vocalist of China, Jia Ruhan sings a wide range of music in multiple languages, crossing over classical and modern, pop and folk.
She was awarded the second prize in the solo vocal competition at the 62nd Llangollen International Eisteddfod (Wales), and the first prize at the XVIII Discovery International Pop Music Festival in Bulgaria. In December of 2011, Jia had her first personal album ‘Time to Grow’ released under SSCEG (Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group), a sincere endeavor to forge a new kind of 'world music' that belongs to China.
In 2011, the fusion album ‘Calling All Dawns’ in which Jia Ruhan participated won two Grammy Awards -- Best Classical Crossover Album and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)
